Google has trained its AI on content from travel bloggers.

Currently, it is using this AI to remove travel bloggers from the SERPs.

And, in the future, they will replace bloggers with these results.

By the way, based on the example itinerary, it’s absolutely AWFUL.

Yeah, it’s pretty ironic that Google would

— recommend that travel bloggers share first-hand experiences of traveling to places

— implement algorithm updates resulting in many instances of travel bloggers who actually did just that, and saw their sites obliterated by HCU and March core updates

— now use SGE to provide even more generic travel advice from a literal AI – not even a human – who, by definition, has never traveled to the place and can never travel to the place.

What’s next?

Chances are, much like with the “Google Shopping Experience”, we’ll see Google making concerted efforts to create a specific search experience.

There will be opportunities for advertising/sponsorship.

There will be “data feeds” for travel times (flights, etc.).

Chances are, sectors such as vehicle rentals will also end up with their own subsection.
